Assembly Instructions for 2484, 2483, 2494 or 2493

Multipurpose Economy Wire Cages For Small Animals or Birds

These cages are equipped 1 of 2 ways, either for birds with feeders and perches, or for small animals with ladders and platforms, When used for small animals, a cable (not included) needed to ties for the feeder doors that will not be used and clips (not included) as locks for the large front doors. If used for ferrets or chins, since the cage has a bottom grille, ladders and platforms that are made the same as the sides of the cage with ½" spaced wires, it may be necessary to cut some kind of material to cover them.

We are able to offer these large cages for reasonable prices since they’re wire cages. The strength of the cage is when it is assembled correctly, while the parts of the cage are flexible, when assembled they’re very strong. The picture on top, the 55" cage weighs 25lbs and stacked 175lbs on top to show the strength.

The 36" cage is 15lbs and stacked 105 on top of it, that’s 7 times the weight of each cage.

Below pictures are included to demonstrate the strength of the cage when properly assembled.

Unpack the contents of the carton: 2493 is the 55" cage and 2483 is the 36" cage.

The contents are the same:

1 front piece with the top attached

1 back panel with both the bottom grille and the tray holder attached

2 side pieces – 1 plastic tray – 2493 – 6 feeders & 6 perches - 2483 – 4 feeders & 4 perches

The 2493 55" Small animal cage 4 ladders & 4 platforms

2483 36" small animal cage 3 ladders & 3 platforms

Start assembly by laying out all of the pieces

Take the front piece with the top attached and set it upon its side with the top extended to the side.

Next take the back with the bottom grille and tray holder and set it up on its side next to the front panel. Push the front panel over to the back panel so the hooks on the top of the cage grab the back panel and they can be squeezed closed.

Most ordinary pliers will fit in between the bars so you can get a good tight squeeze on the hooks. Make sure you push the hook as far as possible before squeezing it closed. Then slide the bottom grill over to the front and attach the same way.

Now take one of the side pieces and place it on top of what you have assembled with the handle to the outside and the 3 half loops to the bottom, Once in place squeeze the 3 hooks at the top and then the hooks on each side. Now there is a hook on the side of the bottom grill sticking out, it goes on top of the second horizontal bar from the bottom for support and is squeezed as well.

Now take the tray holder and pull it over the 3 half circles on the bottom of the side piece and squeeze them up on the tray wire.

Now turn the cage over and install the other side the same way. For the bird cage just install the tray, feeders and perches. For the 55" cage you have a platform with nuts welded to each corner of the bottom, the casters have long threaded shafts that screw into these. The casters have jam nuts in the carton and must be used, take one of the casters out of the box and screw one of the jam nuts all the way down then screw the caster into the nut on the platform with your fingers, it will not go down very far, take a wrench and

barely tighten the caster very very little, then tighten the jam nut against the nut on the platform to lock it into place and it won’t loosen as you move the cage around. IF YOU TRY TO USE THE CASTER WITHOUT THE JAM NUT YOU WILL PULL THE NUT LOOSE FROM THE PLATFORM.

The small animal cages now need the ladders and platforms installed. The platforms have tabs that go over the vertical bars on the front and back of the cage, once in place these need to be squeezed to hold in place and adds even more stability to the cage. We’re adding hooks on the side that fit against the side of the cage, some of the 55" have them now but the 36" won’t have them until Feb,

The ladders are made long on purpose, once you have the platforms in place and squeezed, set the ladder in place and you can either just leave them the length they are or you can cut the bottom to fit.

If you’re cutting them measure the ladder so it is a little longer than you need, you can cut away any rungs that aren’t needed and bend the ends around the platforms to give you the best fit.

When using this cage for small animals, please use a cable (not included)  ties to close the feeder doors not needed and clips (not included)  to use as locks for the large doors.

If you follow these instructions this is a very strong and safe cage for your small animals.
